What does Parents as Teachers
have to offer? (PAT)  

 
LOCAL PROGRAM 
        Parents as Teachers is a state funded program for parents who are currently pregnant, in the process of adoption, or have young children not yet in kindergarten. The program began in 1985 and is designed to help parents be the best "first teacher" of their child. Our staff spends one-on-one time with parents sharing child development information that is researched based and tailored to meet the needs of each family. Parent Educators attend an intensive institute where they learn to use the "Born to Learn" curriculum. Parent Educators have educational backgrounds as teachers, nurses, social workers, and other related fields of study. Most every school district in Missouri offers this program to families who reside in their communities.
