The Daily 5 is a management system I use during our literacy block. While I am meeting with a small group of students the rest of the class is busy at work on their choice of the 5 given activities.
1. Read to Self
2. Read to Someone
3. Listen to Reading
4. Write about Reading
5. Word Work
Because the children know the routines and the activities, you will find the children are working quietly, productively and most important, independently!
While the children are working I am meeting with students and we are working on one of the following: letter recognition., letter sounds, phonemic awareness, word work, reading and much much more.
