UPCOMING EVENTS

Missouri's booster seat law, which went into effect, August 28, 2006, requires children who
weigh less than 80 lbs. and are less than 4'9" tall and have outgrown a child safety seat
must be secured in a booster seat while traveling in a motor vehicle. Motorists can be stopped
for this violation and no other violation is required.
The fine for violating this law is $50 plus court costs, which far exceeds the cost of many booster seats. Children 8 and over or weighing at least 80 lbs. or at least 4'9" tall are still required to be secured by a safety belt or may be buckled into an appropriate booster seat.
