Welcome to Ambrose Family Center Preschool The AFC Preschool (formerly Early Childhood Education Center) is part of the Webster Groves School District and is located in the Walter Ambrose Family Center at 222 West Cedar Avenue. The AFC Preschool is state licensed and nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. NAEYC is the most widely recognized accreditation system for all types of early childhood programs and child care centers. Here at the AFC Preschool, we believe that all children have the right to a high quality developmentally appropriate program where cultural differences are valued and where families play a significant role in their children's education. We believe that by working together, we can provide children with a positive experience in the early years that will give them the necessary tools to make their school years successful. Our program is open to young children ages two through five years of age. We offer full-day and half-day programs. Our full-day program is available from 7:00-6:00. Our half-day morning program is from 8:30-11:30 and our half-day afternoon program is from 12:15-3:15. We encourage an environment where children can meet their potential, are encouraged to make choices, and are able to establish solid relationships with both adults and peers. Our teachers have appropriate degrees and certifications and are trained in the Project Construct Teaching Philosophy. All teachers are also CPR and First Aid certified and participate in Professional Development opportunities throughout the year. A dedicated on-site team of administrators, administrative support, classroom teachers and support staff provides daily operations. We have exceptional collaboration with the St. Louis County Special School District which affords us additional resources for children, staff and classrooms. The Webster Groves School District is committed to helping its students succeed academically and personally. This committment includes teaching students about safe and healthy life styles.
