Learn how these nuts and bolts build learning in the classroom.
Clark School PledgeOur school starts each morning with this pledge. Throughout the day, students and staff members use these words to build a risk-free environment where everyone feels comfortable learning. Try using these words at home, so your child can understand that our pledge is not just a "school" tool but a "real-life" tool.
| Clark School PledgeAs a learner at Clark School, I will be cooperative respectful responsible and honest. I will persevere! |

Wednesday FolderClark School uses a Wednesday folder to communicate with families. The Wednesday folder contains all office notes, PTO notes, classroom newsletters, and notes from other staff members. Please look for the folder every Wednesday in your child's backpack. This is a great way to keep parents informed about school happenings along with the Clark School Web Page. Please remove all papers inside the folder, sign the front of the folder, and return the empty folder every Thursday. If you do have to return a form or other information to the school, place the item in the folder and circle the date on the front of the folder before your signature. That way I will know immediately which Wednesday folders need to be emptied. | |

Return to the top | Show and TellYour child will be able to show or tell something each week. The class is divided into five groups. Each group is assigned a day of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday) to share with the class. On that day, your child may bring a show and tell item. Toys can be shared, but toy guns and weapons are not allowed at school. Show and Tell helps to increase language skills and confidence when speaking in front of people. Please encourage your child to participate in Show and Tell by spending time selecting items to show, as well as helping your child practice "telling" about that item. Some ideas for show and tell items are magazines, art work, LEGO creations, souvenirs from trips, postcards, books, etc. Your child does not always have to share a toy. Ask your child what day of the week is his/her show and tell day.

HomeworkHomework is given Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights and will start the third week of school. A homework sheet is sent home every Monday with all the assignments for the week. Keep this homework sheet at home in a place where you can refer to the nightly assignments. I do not need this sheet back. Your child uses his/her red home folder to bring home the daily homework. When your child completes the homework, please encourage him/her to immediately put the homework paper back inside the red home folder. Homework is returned to school the next day. Your child will read for 10 minutes each night. Look for books to come home in a reading bag. I know from my own experiences that finding 10 minutes a night can be challenging. Please try to make this reading commitment so your child can develop a strong reading habit that will impact his/her future learning. Homework is a team effort between parents, student and teacher. This is a great opportunity for the parents to spend quality time with their child. Parents can assist with homework and provide feedback about concerns or questions with the assignment. When the children return the homework to school, I'll reinforce the importance of homework. Thank you for your support. |
