5541 FINANCIAL MATHEMATICS

Credit: 1/2 unit Prerequisite: * (see below) Open to Grades: 10-12

*This course is designed for the student who has at least 1/2 credit but less than 2 credits of high school math.

This course uses mathematical skills as a tool in personal financial situations. Personal finance concepts that are explored are gross and net income, checking and savings accounts, budgeting, and income tax. Calculators will be used extensively. A culminating project will be given at the end of the semester.
