Parents in the Webster Groves School District are very involved in the academic and social achievement of their children. This makes our job as educators more successful because we have a team of caring adults working toward the best education possible for that child. I have compiled a list of websites that may be helpful to parents of children with special needs. These websites are intended for use as a guide to some of the thousands of resources available on the Internet at this time. This list may also help parents of children who do not have special needs to understand what is considered necessary to support all of the children in a diverse classroom environment. Please let me know of any other resources that you have found helpful. It is my goal for us to work together as a team to give all children the best education possible while attending Hixson Middle School.

Just click on the name of any of the websites below and check it out!

Family Village
This is one of my favorite sites because it has so many resources listed to help families who are looking for educational aides. There are links to books on tape, webpage readers, and many more helpful tools.
KidsClick Searchengine
This is a directory of websites that may be of interest to the student. Websites are listed by subject and grade-level ranges of readability.
Seeing DisABILITIES from a Different Perspective
This site focuses not on the disability, but on the ability of special needs students. It was created by students at Sherwood Elementary School in Illinois, and won the Junior ThinkQuest competition. (Sometimes the link comes up empty, but please check the library)
Special Education Resources on the Internet
This is a great site for special education resources. This directory is a comprehensive and well-organized list of internet locations important for special education issues.
